Imperial Crisis - Total War takes back Barbarian Invasion to the timeframe of the Imperial Crisis of the Third Century in which the Roman Empire split into three seperate entities; the Gallic Empire in the west, the Palmyrene Empire in the east, and the Roman Empire proper smack in the middle. Various barbarians also threaten the security of the western world as the first barbarian attacks of the later world begin to take place, while in the east the great Sassanid Persian Empire towers in wealth and power.
The mod's creator, comrade_general, had been interested in doing a mod for Barbarian Invasion for some time, and this idea had been found floating around various message boards. It was made by importing the Roman factions from vanilla Rome - Total War into the Barbarian atmosphere and altering them into the Empires of this timultuous period.
